THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM EST /9 AM CST/ THIS MORNING TO 11 PM EST /10 PM CST/ THIS EVENING. 

 

****HAZARDOUS WEATHER****

*SUSTAINED SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 20-30 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 40-45 MPH ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THIS EVENING. 

 

****IMPACTS****

*TRAVEL MAY BE DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.  

*LOOSE OBJECTS WILL BE BLOWN AROUND.

*BACK ROADS AND ROADS LESS TRAVELED MAY REMAIN ICY THROUGH MID MORNING EVEN AS TEMPERATURES WARM ABOVE FREEZING.

**Light Wintry Mix Possible late tonight**

A brief period of sleet and or freezing rain is expected to develop late tonight and then change to rain as surface temperatures warm into the mid 30s by daybreak Tuesday. Recent cold weather has chilled ground temperatures into the mid teens which may lead to some icy road conditions for the morning commute Tuesday.

*A MIXTURE OF SNOW, SLEET, AND FREEZING RAIN WILL DEVELOP SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO ALL FREEZING RAIN LATER TONIGHT. THE FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE OVER TO ALL RAIN BY DAYBREAK TOMORROW.  

*SNOW ACCUMULATIONS GENERALLY AN INCH OR LESS. 

*LIGHT ICE ACCRETIONS EXPECTED.

**Wintry Mix Possible Tonight**

A period of snow is expected to develop toward late evening north of US 6 and then fill in with southward extent into early Tuesday morning as it changes over to a period of sleet and freezing rain and then rain as surface temperatures warm into the lower 30s by daybreak Tuesday. Recent cold weather has chilled ground temperatures into the mid teens which will likely lead to icy road conditions for the morning commute Tuesday especially US 30 north.
