THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ MONDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. 

***HAZARDOUS WEATHER***

*STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS BY TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM 6 TO 9 INCHES. 

*PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING. THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS WHEN SNOWFALL RATES COULD LOCALLY APPROACH OR EXCEED 1 INCH PER HOUR IN SOME AREAS. 

***IMPACTS***

*ROADS WILL BE SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY THROUGH TONIGHT. 

*SOME MINOR DRIFTING IS POSSIBLE DUE TO SOUTH WINDS GUSTING TO AROUND 20 MPH. 

*REDUCED VISIBILITY CAN BE EXPECTED DURING THE PERIODS OF HEAVIER SNOW...ESPECIALLY DURING THE EARLY AFTERNOON HOURS.

*STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS FROM TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT OF 3 TO 7 INCHES...BUT LESSER ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES SOUTHEAST OF THE ROUTE 24 CORRIDOR. 

*LIGHT SNOW IS EXPECTED TO OVERSPREAD THE AREA THIS EVENING, BUT WILL PICK UP IN INTENSITY DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS INTO SUNDAY MORNING. SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING BUT MAY MIX WITH OR CHANGE OVER TO RAIN LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING BEFORE DIMINISHING. 

***IMPACTS***

*ROADS MAY BECOME SNOW COVERED AND SLICK LATE TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. SOME IMPROVEMENT IN ROAD CONDITIONS IS POSSIBLE LATER SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND SUNDAY EVENING AS TEMPERATURES RISE INTO THE MID 30s.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM EST /8 PM CST/ THIS EVENING TO 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ MONDAY. 

***HAZARDOUS WEATHER***

*AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW WILL IMPACT THE ADVISORY AREA STARTING THIS EVENING AND CONTINUING INTO SUNDAY NIGHT. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS CURRENTLY EXPECTED NORTH OF ROUTE 6 WHERE 6 TO 9 INCHES OF SNOW MAY FALL OVER A ROUGHLY 36 HOUR PERIOD.  

*LOCATIONS SOUTH OF ROUTE 6 MAY SEE LESSER AMOUNTS AS TEMPERATURES WARM TO NEAR OR JUST ABOVE FREEZING...ALLOWING FOR SOME MELTING OF THE SNOW AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL OF RAIN MIXING AT TIMES. GENERALLY 4 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE BETWEEN ROUTE 30 AND ROUTE 6.

***IMPACTS*** 

*THE SNOW WILL CAUSE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS ON UNTREATED ROADS TONIGHT INTO AT LEAST THE FIRST PART OF SUNDAY ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA. CONDITIONS MAY IMPROVE SOMEWHAT SOUTH OF ROUTE 6 SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED FROM SUNDAY MORNING INTO SUNDAY EVENING. THE SNOW MAY TRANSITION TO A PERIOD OF RAIN OR A RAIN AND SNOW MIX SUNDAY EVENING BEFORE DIMINISHING...WHICH MAY LESSEN ACCUMULATIONS IN SOME AREAS. STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED FROM SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT. GREATER SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 INCHES OR GREATER ARE POSSIBLE NORTH OF ROUTE 30.
