Winter Weather Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Blackford, Cass, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Miami, Wabash, Wells and White Counties.

 

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EST THIS EVENING.

****HAZARDOUS WEATHER****

*Snow will continue to overspread the area into this afternoon. The snow may become locally heavy at times with the greatest impacts likely to occur along and south of a Monticello to Huntington to Lima line where 2 to locally as much as 4 inches of snow is expected. Lesser amounts are expected north of this line. 

****IMPACTS****

*Afternoon and evening travel will likely be impacted including Interstate 65 in White County... Interstate 69 south of Fort Wayne and highway 31 south of Rochester. Roads may be snow covered and slippery with motorists encountering reduced visibility at times.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EST this evening.

****HAZARDOUS WEATHER****

*Snow is expected to spread across the area by mid morning from Monticello to Huntington to Lima and continue through late afternoon. Amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected. 

****IMPACTS**** 

*Afternoon and evening travel will likely be impacted including Interstate 65 in White County, Interstate 69 south of Fort Wayne and highway 31 south of Rochester.

Special Weather Statement Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Cass, Fulton, Huntington, Miami, Pulaski, Wabash, and White Counties.

 

A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT MIAMI, FULTON, NORTHERN HUNTINGTON, WABASH, SOUTHEASTERN PULASKI, NORTHEASTERN WHITE AND NORTHERN CASS COUNTIES. 

At 238 AM EST/138 AM CST/, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Monon to near Logansport to 6 miles south of Grissom ARB. Movement was northeast at 45 mph. Dime size hail is possible with these storms along with brief periods of heavy rain. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Indiana Cities Impacted Include: Logansport, Huntington, Peru, Wabash, Rochester, North Manchester, Akron, Andrews, Bunker Hill, La Fontaine, Royal Center, Mexico, Wells, Kewanna, Erie, Denver, Roann, Lagro, Amboy and Fulton.

Flood Warning Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Cass, Kosciusko, Miami, Wabash, and Whitley Counties.

 

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Flood Warning for the Eel River at North Manchester affecting Cass, Kosciusko, Miami, Wabash and Whitley Counties, from late tonight to Friday afternoon. Heavy rainfall today from a low pressure system that is moving through has caused the Eel River at North Manchester to rise rapidly. At 7 PM Tuesday the stage was 7.9 feet and rising. Flood stage is 9.0 feet. 

Forecast: The river will rise above flood stage very early Wednesday morning and crest near 10.4 feet around 7 PM Wednesday February 8 and fall below flood stage around 5 PM Thursday February 9. At 10.0 feet, Flood waters near lumber company and trailer court on South Mill Street. This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.4 feet which occurred on Dec 29 2015.

 

Instructions: Never drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local media for further statements and updated forecasts. Dense Fog Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White, and Whitley Counties.

 

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG ADVISORY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM EST /12 AM CST UNTIL 7 AM EST /6 AM CST/ THIS MORNING.

 

***HAZARDOUS WEATHER*** 

*AREAS OF DENSE FOG WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OVERNIGHT. 

*VISIBILITY WILL DROP TO A QUARTER OF A MILE OR LESS. 

*CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE FROM THE SOUTH TOWARD DAYBREAK. 

 

***IMPACTS*** 

*TRAVEL WILL BE HAMPERED DUE TO THE FOG.
