Indiana Target Area: Cass, Eastern St. Joseph, Fulton, Marshall, Miami, Northern La Porte, Pulaski, Southern La Porte, Starke, Western St. Joseph, and White Counties.

 


HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT /11 AM CDT/ WEDNESDAY TO 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ THURSDAY.

*WHAT: Heat index values up to 107 are expected.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana and southwest Michigan.

*WHEN: From noon EDT /11 AM CDT/ Wednesday to 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ Thursday.

*IMPACTS: Hot temperatures and high humidity will increase the potential for heat related illnesses to occur.

 

Instructions: Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Flood Watch Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Cass, Fulton, Marshall, Pulaski, Starke, and White Counties.

 

A slow moving and moisture rich system has a history of producing rain rates of 1 inch per hour at times. Training of heavy rain rates has been noted as well. Rain totals approaching 2 to as much as 4 inches is possible in the watch area.

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT.

*WHAT: Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

*WHERE: A portion of northern Indiana, including the following areas, Cass IN, Fulton IN, Marshall, Pulaski, Starke and White.

*WHEN: Through late tonight.

*IMPACTS: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT /7 AM CDT/ (07/26/23) TO MIDNIGHT EDT /11 PM CDT/ (7/28/23).

*WHAT: Heat index values up to 106 are expected, especially in the southwestern portions of the forecast area. Also, locations near Lake Michigan may stay somewhat cooler however the humidity levels will remain elevated.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.

*WHEN: From 8 AM EDT /7 AM CDT/ this morning(7/26/23) to midnight EDT /11 PM CDT/ Friday night(7/28/23).

*IMPACTS: Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Be a good neighbor and check in on the elderly or infirm to make sure they are coping well with the heat. Also, be sure to keep your pets and livestock cool and well-hydrated during this heat spell.
