Special Weather Statement Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Fulton, Kosciusko and Marshall Counties.

 

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT NORTHEASTERN FULTON, SOUTHWESTERN KOSCIUSKO AND SOUTHEASTERN MARSHALL COUNTIES.

At 413 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 8 miles west of Rochester, moving east at 25 mph.
Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include: Rochester, Akron, Mentone, Walnut, Tippecanoe, Burkett, Athens,
Palestine, Beaver Dam Lake, Sevastopol, Tiosa, Beaver Dam, Lake Manitou, Talma and Old Tip Town.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT NORTHERN PULASKI, NORTHWESTERN FULTON, STARKE, WESTERN MARSHALL AND SOUTHWESTERN LA PORTE COUNTIES.

At 348 PM EDT/248 PM CDT/, a strong thunderstorm was located over North Judson, or 9 miles southwest of Knox, moving east at 35 mph. Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include: Plymouth, Knox, North Judson, Culver, Oak Grove, Ripley, Monterey, Leiters Ford, Lomax, Beardstown, Ober, English Lake, Denham, Brems, Hibbard, Clarks, Winona, Delong, Donaldson and San Pierre.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT NORTHEASTERN WHITE, SOUTHEASTERN PULASKI AND NORTHWESTERN CASS COUNTIES.

At 626 PM EDT/526 PM CDT/, a strong thunderstorm was located 8 miles northeast of Monticello, moving east at 30 mph. Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding.

Locations impacted include: Monticello, Royal Center, Burnettsville, Idaville, Sitka, Star City, Thornhope, Headlee, Bell Center, Buffalo and Lake Cicott.

Instructions: Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTH CENTRAL FULTON AND NORTHERN CASS COUNTIES.

At 739 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Royal Center, or 8 miles northwest of Logansport, moving east at 20 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Locations impacted include: Logansport, Royal Center, Fulton, Nyona Lake, New Waverly, Leases Corner, Twelve Mile, Metea, Hoover, Fletcher, Adamsboro, Lucerne and Anoka.

 

Heat Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley Counties.

 

HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ MONDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:
*Temperatures will drop into the middle 70s overnight. Highs Monday will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s.
*Heat indices will fall into the middle to upper 70s overnight. Peak heat indices are expected to be around 100 late Monday morning into the afternoon hours.

IMPACTS:
*The heat will lead to hazardous conditions particularly for the elderly,those with preexisting health conditions and pets. Little in the way of beneficial cooling will occur overnight in homes without air conditioning.
* Keep in mind that heat indices are in areas with at least some shading. People in full sunshine could experience heat indices several degrees warmer.
*Clouds may move into locations north of the Indiana Toll Road. Monday afternoon that could bring some localized cooling.

 

Instructions: A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and neighbors. Temperatures inside a vehicle can be significantly higher than outside, even with windows open. Make sure not to leave children or animals in the vehicle as they can be quickly overcome by the heat.
