Dense Fog Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph and Starke Counties.

 

PATCHY DENSE FOG POSSIBLE THIS MORNING.

The combination of clear skies, light winds, and moisture has allowed for patchy fog development again early this morning. Some patchy dense fog is possible through the early morning hours, with visibility reduced to one quarter of a mile or less in the denser fog patches. Visibility will rapidly improve toward 8 AM EDT this morning.

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley Counties.

 

PATCHY DENSE FOG DEVELOPING OVERNIGHT.

Patchy dense fog will continue to develop across the area through the early morning hours. Visibility in the denser fog patches will be reduced to one quarter of a mile at times. Motorists should be prepared for rapid changes of visibility across short distances due to the patchy nature of the fog.

Special Weather Statement Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Fulton, La Porte, Marshall, Pulaski, St. Joseph and Starke Counties.

 

At 617 PM EDT/517 PM CDT/, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Marcellus Michigan to near Francesville Indiana. Movement was east at 40 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail are possible with these storms. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.


Locations impacted include: South Bend, Mishawaka, La Porte, Niles, Plymouth, Dowagiac, Bremen, Buchanan, Knox, Georgetown, Winamac, Granger, Gulivoire Park, Osceola, Walkerton, North Liberty, New Carlisle, Berrien Springs, Cassopolis, North Judson and Interstate 80 in Indiana between mile markers 54 and 86.

Flood Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Fulton and Pulaski Counties.

 

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Flood Advisory for, Southeastern Pulaski County and Southwestern Fulton County, until 800 PM EDT/700 PM CDT/.

*At 454 PM EDT/354 PM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

*Some locations that will experience flooding include, Pulaski, Kewanna, Fulton, Grass Creek, Star City, Thornhope, Lawton and Marshtown.

 

Instructions: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely.

DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EDT /8 AM CDT/ THIS MORNING.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Dense Fog Advisory, which is in effect until 9 AM EDT /8 AM CDT/ this morning.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:
*Areas of fog with visibility reduced to one quarter of a mile or less at times.

IMPACTS:
*Rapid fluctuations of visibility across short distances will create hazardous travel conditions early this morning.
*Fog is expected to begin to dissipate after 8 AM EDT.

 

Instructions: A Dense Fog Advisory means visibility will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving...slow down... use your headlights...and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
