Indiana Target Area: La Porte, Pulaski and Starke Counties.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED AN URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY UNTIL 830 PM CDT OR 930 EDT.

*AT 533 PM CDT OR 633 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVERSPREADING THE ADVISORY AREA. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES THAT BETWEEN 1 AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHWEST LA PORTE COUNTY INTO EXTREME WESTERN STARKE COUNTY. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF AROUND 1 INCH ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH 615 PM CDT OR 715 PM EDT. THESE HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL OVERSPREAD THE EASTERN PORTIONS OF PULASKI COUNTY THROUGH 700 PM EDT. RUNOFF FROM THIS HEAVY RAIN WILL RESULT IN PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS AND MINOR FLOODING.

Instructions: DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING UNTIL 6:00 PM CDT OR 7:00 PM EDT.

*AT 523 PM CDT...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED 6 MILES NORTHWEST OF MEDARYVILLE...AND MOVING EAST AT 45 MPH.

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White, and Whitley Counties.

FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ THIS MORNING.

*SHOWERS WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE AREA THIS MORNING. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL UP TO AN INCH IS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE SHOWERS MOVE OUT OF THE AREA LATER TODAY. SOME LOCATIONS HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN SINCE SATURDAY MORNING AND THE POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL RAINFALL COULD LEAD TO FLOODING.

Instructions: A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 270 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 900 PM EDT FOR THE FOLLOWING INDIANA COUNTIES: Cass, Fulton, Kosciusko, La Porte, Marshall,  Miami, Pulaski, Starke, Wabash, and White.

Indiana Target Area: Fulton, La Porte, Marshall, Pulaski, and Starke Counties.

AT 456 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A STRONG THUNDERSTORM NEAR WINAMAC, MOVING NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH. THIS STORM CAN PRODUCE DIME SIZE HAIL, WINDS UP TO 50 MPH, OCCASIONAL CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND BRIEF TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS. 


INDIANA LOCATIONS IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM INCLUDE: KNOX, NORTH JUDSON, CULVER, HAMLET, RIPLEY, DENHAM, VANMETER PARK, AND BEARDSTOWN.


GUSTY WINDS MAY CAUSE SMALL BRANCHES TO BE BLOWN DOWN AND LOOSE OBJECTS TO BLOW AROUND. STAY AWAY FROM HIGH OBJECTS OUTDOORS SUCH AS TREES. SEEK SHELTER IN A STURDY STRUCTURE UNTIL THIS STORM HAS PASSED.
