Strong Wind Gusts Expected At Times Late Tonight. Strong wind gusts up to and around 40 mph are expected late tonight at times. Secure loose objects like lawn furniture and trash cans that could be lofted within these winds.

Frost Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley Counties.

 

FROST ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM EDT /1 AM CDT/ TO 9 AM EDT /8 AM CDT/ FRIDAY.

*WHAT: Low temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees away from Lake Michigan. Expect widespread frost and possibly a light freeze in localized colder drainage areas late tonight into Friday morning.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.

*IMPACTS: Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Late season crops not harvested may be damaged or killed.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Consider taking in or covering tender plants.

 

Instructions: Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

Flood Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Fulton and Pulaski Counties.

 

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Flood Advisory for Pulaski County and Fulton County, until 915 PM EDT/815 PM CDT/.

*At 610 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms across the northern and eastern sections of Pulaski
County. Doppler radar estimates that between 1 and 3 inches of rain has fallen across the advisory area this afternoon with additional rainfall amounts of around one-half inch to one inch possible through 600 PM EDT. Runoff from the heavy rainfall will result in minor flooding issues early evening. More showers and thunderstorms are expected late this evening into the overnight that will likely lead to some renewed flood concerns. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through tonight.

*Some locations that will experience flooding include: Rochester, Winamac, Akron, Francesville, Medaryville, Pulaski, Ripley, Kewanna, Monterey, Leiters Ford, Beardstown, Vanmeter Park, Denham, Athens, Lawton, Bruce Lake Station, Clarks, Delong, Lake Bruce and Star City.

Instructions: Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Patchy Dense Fog For the Morning Commute.

Areas of fog may become locally dense this morning, with visibility in some places of around a quarter of a mile or less. Most areas will see visibility of around a half of a mile to one mile. The fog should lift shortly after sunrise. If you are traveling early this morning, slow down and be alert for children waiting for the school bus. Allow extra time to reach your destination.

Flash Flood Watch Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, La Porte, Marshall, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, and White Counties.

 

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Flash Flood Watch for through late tonight. This is for portions of northern Indiana and southwest Michigan, including the following areas, in northern Indiana, Elkhart, Fulton IN, Kosciusko, La Porte, Marshall, Pulaski, St. Joseph IN, Starke, and White. In southwest Michigan, Berrien and Cass MI.

*Widespread rainfall totals of 1.5 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts are expected within the watch area. Intense downpours from thunderstorms will allow rainfall to quickly runoff and cause flash flooding of streets, fields, and lowland areas. Runoff and associated flash flooding will be especially significant in urban areas.

Instructions: A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Always take an alternate route if water is crossing the road. Turn around, don't drown. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
