Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White, and Whitley Counties.

 

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT /7 AM CDT/ TO 11 PM EDT /10 PM CDT/ THURSDAY.

*WHAT: Northeast winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts 40 to 45 mph expected.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.

*WHEN: From 8 AM EDT /7 AM CDT/ to 11 PM EDT /10 PM CDT/ Thursday.

*IMPACTS: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

 

Instructions: Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

*WHERE: In Indiana, Starke, Pulaski, La Porte, St. Joseph IN, Marshall, Fulton IN, Cass IN, and White Counties. In Michigan, Berrien County.

*WHEN: Until 1 AM EST /midnight CST/ Thursday.

*IMPACTS: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Special Weather Statement Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Fulton, La Porte, Marshall, Pulaski, St. Joseph, and Starke Counties.

AREAS OF FREEZING FOG THIS MORNING.

Areas of freezing fog had developed overnight and were expanding from southwest of South Bend to La Porte to Winamac. The freezing fog was locally dense and is expected to continue to develop past daybreak in this area.

Instructions: If you are traveling this early this morning, allow extra time to reach your destination. Be alert for rapidly changing visibility and slippery roads and bridges.

Flood Warning Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Cass, Miami, and Wabash Counties.

 

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Indiana, Wabash River at Wabash affecting Miami, Wabash and Cass Counties.

*What: Melting snow combined with some light rain will cause the Wabash River at Wabash to reach minor flood stage. Flood Warning for the Wabash River at Wabash. At 10:30 PM EST Saturday the stage was 13.9 feet. Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
*When: Until Sunday(02-28-2021)evening at 19:00 EST.
*Forecast: The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight to a crest of 14.1 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon.
*Impact: At 14.0 feet, Lowland flooding begins in rural Wabash County.

 

Instructions: Never drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local media for further statements and updated forecasts. Detailed river forecasts and additional information can be found at www.weather.gov/iwx under Rivers and Lakes. This statement will be updated in about 24 hours or sooner if necessary.

Winter Storm Warning Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, White, and Whitley Counties.

 

WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST /9 AM CST/ TUESDAY.

*WHAT: Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches.

*WHERE: Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.

*WHEN: Until 10 AM EST /9 AM CST/ Tuesday.

*IMPACTS: Travel is not advised tonight. Significant impacts are expected for the Tuesday morning commute.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Snow will continue to increase in coverage and intensity, peaking between 6 pm this evening and 1 am Tuesday this evening when snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are expected. Gusty winds will cause blowing and drifting snow, mainly in rural areas. Additional accumulations of 8 to possibly as much 12 inches are expected by Tuesday morning. Wind chills overnight into Tuesday morning will range from 10 below to zero.

 

Instructions: If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Slow down and use caution while traveling. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, gloves, and wear the clothing in layers.
