Scattered Strong Thunderstorms This Afternoon. 

Scattered thunderstorms will be across the region this afternoon and early evening. Any storm may quickly and briefly intensify before diminishing. Hail to three quarters of an inch in diameter...wind gusts to 50 mph and frequent lightning will be possible with any thunderstorm. An isolated brief severe thunderstorm is possible as well with wind gusts to 60 mph. Listen for possible warnings and updated statements this afternoon. Take shelter when any thunderstorm approaches.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 431 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 700 AM EDT.

Flood Warning Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, Pulaski and Starke Counties.

 

FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR PARTS OF NORTH CENTRAL INDIANA AND NORTHEASTERN OHIO, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. 

The Flood Warning has been extended for the following rivers: Auglaize River near Fort Jennings affecting Allen, Paulding and Putnam Counties and In Ohio the Maumee River near Defiance affecting Defiance and Henry Counties. 

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers: In Indiana the Tippecanoe River near Ora affecting Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, Pulaski and Starke Counties and In Ohio the Tiffin River near Stryker affecting Defiance, Fulton and Williams Counties. 

Recent and forecast heavy rainfall will lead to continued rises on area rivers. The Flood Warning continues for The Tippecanoe River near Ora from late tonight until further notice. 

*At 9 PM Wednesday the stage was 11.9 feet and steady. 

*Minor flooding is forecast. 

*Flood stage is 12.0 feet. 

*Forecast: The river will rise above flood stage very early Thursday morning and crest near 12.1 feet around 2 PM Thursday July 13. Additional rises are possible thereafter. 

*At 12.0 feet...The river is at flood stage...significant lowland and rural flooding begins. 

 

Instructions: Never drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local media for further statements and updated forecasts. Flood Watch Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Blackford, Cass, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Miami, Pulaski, Wabash, Wells and White Counties.

 

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT /7 AM CDT/ THURSDAY

 

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has expanded the Flood Watch to include a portion of northern Indiana. Including the following areas: Adams, Blackford, Cass, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Miami, Pulaski, Wabash, Wells and White Counties, until 8 AM EDT /7 AM CDT/ Thursday.  

*One or more rounds of thunderstorms are expected overnight. Some locations could see 1 to 2 inches of rain through daybreak with locally higher amounts also possible. The exact location where heavy rainfall may occur is still uncertain since the storms have yet to develop. 

*Even though water has started to recede in some areas, high water levels and saturated ground conditions will quickly lead to renewed flooding and life threatening situations.

 

Instructions: A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
