Indiana Target Area: Cass, Fulton, La Porte, Marshall, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, and White Counties.

 

WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT /10 PM CDT/ THIS EVENING.

*WHAT: Winds from the southeast at 20 to 25 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph. Winds become from the south late in the day.

*WHEN: From 1 PM EDT /noon CDT/ this afternoon to 11 PM EDT /10 PM CDT/ this evening.

*IMPACTS: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

 

Instructions: Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Flood Watch Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, La Porte, Marshall, Miami, Pulaski, Starke, Wabash, Wells, White, and Whitley Counties.

 

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Flood Watch for portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio, including the following areas, in northern Indiana, Adams, Allen IN, Blackford, Cass IN, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton IN, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph IN, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White, and Whitley. In southwest Michigan, Berrien, Branch, Cass MI, Hillsdale, and St. Joseph MI. In northwest Ohio, Allen OH, Defiance, Fulton OH, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Williams.

*From Sunday morning through Monday morning

*Another weather system will bring more heavy rain tonight through Monday morning. Storm total rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts are expected.

*With soils across most of the area saturated and rivers swelling in response to the heavy rain that fell earlier this week, areal and river flooding is possible. People living in flood-prone locations, such as near creeks, low spots, and poor drainage areas may be impacted.

 

Instructions: A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Reminder: If roads are flooded do not drive thru it, turn around and don't drown.

Flood Warning Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, Pulaski, and Starke Counties.

 

The Flood Warning has been extended for the following rivers: Tippecanoe River near Ora affecting Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, Pulaski and Starke Counties. Wabash River near Linn Grove affecting Adams and Wells Counties. Maumee River near Defiance, OH affecting Defiance and Henry Counties. Saint Joseph River Ohio NEAR Newville affecting Allen, De Kalb and Defiance Counties. Saint Marys River near Decatur affecting Adams, Allen and Van Wert Counties. Saint Joseph River Michigan at Three Rivers affecting Elkhart, Branch and St. Joseph Counties. Saint Joseph River Michigan at South Bend affecting Elkhart, St. Joseph and Berrien Counties.

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers: Tiffin River At Stryker affecting Defiance, OH, Fulton, OH and Williams, OH Counties. North Branch Elkhart River at Cosperville affecting Noble County. Saint Joseph River Michigan at Mottville affecting Elkhart, Cass MI, and St. Joseph Counties. Saint Joseph River Michigan at Niles, MI affecting Elkhart, St. Joseph and Berrien MI Counties.

River flooding will continue due to runoff from recent heavy rainfall. No significant rainfall is expected over the next 24 hours. The Flood Warning has been extended for The Tippecanoe River near Ora.

*At 9 AM Friday the stage was 12.0 feet and steady.

*Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.

*Flood stage is 12.0 feet.

*Forecast: The river will fall below the 12.0-foot flood stage around 8 PM Friday May 22.

*At 12.0 feet: The river is at flood stage, significant lowland and rural flooding begins.

 

Instructions: Never drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near floodwaters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local media for further statements and updated forecasts. Dense Fog Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, Miami, Noble, Wabash, Wells, White, and Whitley Counties.

 

DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING.

*WHAT: Widespread visibility of around or less than one-quarter of a mile in dense fog.

*WHERE: Much of northern Indiana and all of northwest Ohio.

*WHEN: Until 8 AM EDT this morning.

*IMPACTS: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

*ADDITIONAL DETAILS: The fog should lift by 8 AM EDT.

 

Instructions: If driving, slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination. Use your low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance between your vehicle and the one ahead of you. It is advised not to use cruise control due to rapid fluctuation in visibility.
