SNOW SHOWERS TONIGHT WITH SLICK ROADS POSSIBLE

SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE NIGHT WITH THE GREATEST ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES EXPECTED FOR THE FAVORED LAKE EFFECT AREAS. HOWEVER...SLICK ROADS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF THE SNOW SHOWERS AND FALLING TEMPERATURES INTO THE MID 20S...RESULTING IN THE FREEZING OF EARLIER MELTED SNOW.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EST /7 AM CST/ THIS MORNING.

 

***HAZARDOUS WEATHER*** 

 *DENSE FOG WILL DEVELOP OVERNIGHT WITH WIDESPREAD VISIBILITY OF A QUARTER OF A MILE OR LESS. 

 *CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE BY 8 AM EST...7 AM CST. 

***IMPACTS***  

*THE DENSE FOG WILL CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO LOW VISIBILITY THIS MORNING. 

*WET ROADWAYS FROM RECENT RAINS WILL ADD TO THE HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS.

 

Instructions:  A DENSE FOG ADVISORY MEANS VISIBILITY WILL FREQUENTLY BE REDUCED TO LESS THAN ONE QUARTER MILE. IF DRIVING...SLOW DOWN... USE YOUR HEADLIGHTS...AND LEAVE PLENTY OF DISTANCE AHEAD OF YOU.

PATCHY DENSE FOG WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY TO A QUARTER MILE OR LESS IN SPOTS OVERNIGHT. INCREASING WINDS LATE TONIGHT AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL RESULT IN IMPROVING VISIBILITY BY DAYBREAK. IN THE MEANTIME...MOTORISTS SHOULD USE CAUTION AND BE PREPARED TO SLOW DOWN IF FOG BANKS ARE ENCOUNTERED.

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTHWESTERN MIAMI AND EASTERN CASS COUNTIES. 

AT 331 PM EST...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WAS NEAR WALTON...OR NEAR GRISSOM AFB...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 60 MPH.  WINDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH AND PEA SIZE HAIL ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM.  THIS STORM WILL BE NEAR; GRISSOM AFB AROUND 335 PM EST, BUNKER HILL AROUND 340 PM EST, PERU AND MEXICO AROUND 345 PM EST AND OTHER LOCATIONS IMPACTED BY THIS STORM INCLUDE MIAMI, ANOKA, TWELVE MILE, GALVESTON, NEW WAVERLY, CHILI, NEAD, ONWARD, BENNETT SWITCH AND HOOVER.

2016 NWS SPOTTER TRAINING CLASSES

NWS at Northern Indiana has requested that all spotters that is going to attend the class, is to report to the venue of the class at least 30 mins prior to the start of the class. All spotters only have to attend one class, and the actual class will last about 2 and half hours.

Feburary 25, 2016-Marshall County 6:30 pm at Marshall County EMA office(112 W Jefferson St, Plymouth, IN 46563).

Feburary 11, 2016-Wabash County 7:00 pm at Honeywell Center(275 W Market St, Wabash, IN 46992).

March 8, 2016-Pulaski County 6:30 pm at Pulaski County Highway(1131 N US 35, Winamac, IN 46996).
