Wind Advisory Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley Counties.

 

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ TO 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ THURSDAY.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Thursday.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:

*Southwest winds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph can be expected from late Thursday morning into the early evening hours. These strong winds will not be associated with the expected thunderstorms on Thursday.

*Isolated gusts to 50 mph will be possible.

IMPACTS:

*Isolated tree and power line damage is possible.

*Unsecured outdoor objects will be blown around.

 

Instructions: A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficulties, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from midnight EST /11 PM CST/ tonight to 8 AM EDT /7 AM CDT/ Sunday.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:
*Winds from the southwest will gust to 45 mph late tonight.

IMPACTS:
*Scattered tree and power line damage is possible.
*Unsecured outdoor objects will be blown around.

High Wind Warning Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, La Porte, Lagrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley Counties.

 

HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM EST /6 AM CST/ SUNDAY TO 1 AM EST /MIDNIGHT CST/ MONDAY.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:
*Sustained west winds of 35 to 40 mph, with frequent gusts of 50 mph are expected to start early Sunday morning and persist into the evening hours of Sunday.

*Periods of sustained winds to 45 mph and wind gusts to 60 mph are also expected, especially during the day Sunday.

IMPACTS:
*Downed tree limbs and small trees could block roads and lead to power outages as well as cause minor structural damage.

*Driving in high profile vehicles, especially on north-south roads could become hazardous.

*Unsecured outdoor objects will be blown around.

 

Instructions: A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

Special Weather Statement Issued by NWS NorthernIndiana (Northern Indiana and Northeastern Ohio)

Indiana Target Area: Cass, Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, La Porte, Marshall, Miami, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Wabash and White Counties.

 

COLD AIR MOVING INTO THE REGION.

An arctic airmass will overspread the region tonight and persist through the first part of the week. Low temperatures tonight are expected to drop into the single digits above zero across much of southwest Lower Michigan, northwest Indiana, and portions of north central Indiana. The combination of these cold temperatures and west winds of around 10 to 15 mph will produce wind chills as cold as 10 below to 15 below zero late tonight into early Monday morning. Frostbite can occur if precautions are not taken. Be sure to bundle up and limit exposed skin.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a High Wind Watch, which is in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday evening.

 

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:
*Sustained west winds of 30 to 40 mph, with frequent gusts of 45 to 50 mph are expected to start Sunday morning and persist into the evening hours.

*Brief periods of sustained winds to 40 mph and wind gusts up to 60 mph will be possible, especially during the morning and early afternoon hours of Sunday.

IMPACTS:
*Downed tree limbs could cause blocked roads, power line and limited structure damage. Isolated power outages will be possible.

*Driving in high profile vehicles, especially on north-south roads could become hazardous.

*Unsecured outdoor objects will be blown around.
